Back in May I spent 7 days at SWAN Yoga Retreat in Goa, India. Practicing yoga in India had forever been a dream of mine. There are hundreds of yoga retreats in India to choose from therefore I did a lot of research before finally settling on a retreat. I chose SWAN Yoga because it is affordable, quiet, and in the middle of the forest.
Aside from the regular asana classes they also teach yoga philosophy, meditation every morning, havan (fire chanting ceremony), pranayama, yoga nidra, and yogic-kriya (detox). It is a full-on yoga experience. The teachers at SWAN are very dedicated to teaching and spreading the message of yoga.
The retreat also offers ayurveda treatments, and a juice bar at extra cost. There is even a fake beach to lounge at in between classes!
The atmosphere is very chill and peaceful as the retreat is in the middle of a forest in Goa. They have standard, deluxe, and budget cottages to choose from. My only advice is bring your own pillow as I found the pillows in India to be rock hard!
They serve fruit salad & tea in the morning, brunch at 10:00, and dinner at 6:00. The food is to die for! All vegetarian food and there was seriously no meal I didn’t enjoy.
This place is truly amazing and I would go back again in a heartbeat.
